Before you move your ERP system to the Cloud make sure you answer these questions

There are a number of things an ERP customer must consider when making a decision on whether to go with a Cloud Based solution or and on-premise solution. We all know the benefits of the Cloud including accessibility, Scalability and security etc. There are however other questions, which must be answered before you make a decision.

Is it truly scalable?

One true benefit of the Cloud is scalability. Private Cloud models can be scaled up or down nearly instantly where as an on premise solution would require a lot more time and capital if your business was to grow quickly.

Is the solution accessible?

Some cloud vendors require their customers to install VPN software which will reduce accessibility, a private cloud offering brings the needed security to be able to access your ERP package over any Internet connection without.

Does it work with other Business critical applications?

Your Private Cloud solution can be tailored to provide an API that fully integrates with all your other business applications. Our offering is not multi-tenant so your environment is fully customisable.

Who owns your Data?

You will always on your own data. If for any reason you move to a different cloud provider or back to an on-premise solution your data will be securely returned to you at your easiest convenience

Is a cloud ERP system too big for a small company?

Cloud based solutions work extremely well for SME’s and startups due to the TCO and IT outsourcing benefits. Larger companies will also benefit, due to flexibility & scalability features.

What happens to my IT people? Moving to the cloud need not make IT staff members redundant. In fact in most cases it frees these people up to attend to other pressing hardware and software issues.

What should I look for in a cloud-based ERP vendor?

It is important that your Cloud vendor has a strong knowledge of the ERP application it is planning on hosting. A strong relationship between your ERP & Cloud provider is a must.

Is cloud-based ERP system secure? We ensure all data encryption and security protocols meet and/or exceed those required. Our Tier 3 data centre also holds a number of ISO certifications.

If you would like more information on moving your ERP system to the Cloud please get in contact with us by emailing info@mycloud.ie or give us a call on +353 (1) 901 7878 and we would be happy to help.

A hybrid Cloud solution allows for a mixture of both private & public cloud hosting and you can chose how you want it to be deployed to leverage your existing IT infrastructure

Below are three key benefits of moving to a hybrid cloud model if your business is not ready to move into a full cloud infrastructure

Choice:

By defining your long-term business goals you can accurately establish the mixture of on-premise and cloud solution. For SME’s this can be essential, enabling you to leverage what you have today with reduced risk and disruption to your business.

Security:

Security is number one concern for most companies when it comes to cloud hosting. Hybrid cloud models allow you to run certain applications from private cloud, public cloud or even on-premise depending on what is best for that particular application. Working closely with your cloud provider you can assess your company risk tolerance and develop a strategy to fit. A hybrid cloud model means your business can easily facilitate all compliance, data protection and privacy regulations.

Integration:

The Hybrid cloud also is very compatible with existing systems meaning fast deployment. New capabilities can be added quickly to bring innovation at a much quicker pace. Working closely with your Cloud provider to develop an integration plan is essential for a successful cloud migration.

The right mixture of private & public cloud and on-premise solutions hosted in the optimal way gets your business exactly what it needs to grow. If your business is not ready to fully move to the cloud a Hybrid cloud solution is the perfect stepping-stone. The choice around cloud is there but always make sure to consult your cloud partner for advice on what solution will work for your business.

Adobe has issued a critical update for all Windows and Mac computer users after a massive security flaw has been discovered letting hackers abuse users of sites like Twitter, Ebay, Tumblr and Instagram

The vulnerability was spotted by security blogger Michael Spagnuolo, and soon after a new version 14.0.0.145 was released to address the issue. Adobe has given the highest level of warning for the issue and advises that all users of Windows, Mac, Linux and Adobe Air products should install the update.

The Rossetta Flash tool converts any SWF file to one composed only of alphanumeric characters which can then be used to abused to make hacked machines perform server requests. Essentially meaning users sensitive data is potentially at risk

Essentially this means potentially sensitive data can be extracted from machines.

The new network will potentially provide businesses with speeds of up to 200Mbps, meaning Ireland will rank highly in the world’s fastest broadband countries. Ireland will also become the first European country to use their existing electricity infrastructure to deploy fibre broadband directly to the consumer.

The network will be will be created on the ESB’s existing overhead and underground infrastructure. However this is subject to approval from the European Commission. If successful the network will be rolled-out across Ireland in the coming months.

Increased access to high quality broadband nationwide means Irish SME’s will now easily be able to leverage internet based technologies such as cloud computing.

Recently our MD Jonathan Browne attended the SAP Business One Innovation Summit for EMEA along with our Strategic Partners IIS Group. The conference was located in Bratislava, Slovakia and ran over three days.

Two main themes, which underpinned the whole event, were SAP HANA and SAP B1 in the Cloud. It was a great opportunity for Jonathan & MyCloud to ensure we are educated on all the latest SAP innovations.

Successfully hosting SAP B1 in the cloud we find it essential to gain firsthand knowledge and experience working with the latest SAP technologies and there is no better place to do so than at the innovation summit.

Speaking to SAP experts and other partners allows us to fully understand the application and the direction SAP are taking with HANA.

Jonathan found the event extremely successful and is already looking forward to next years Innovation summit.
